All of our providers are experienced, seasoned professionals, who offer diagnostic and counseling services to those they work with. Marcie Stresemann, M.A., Ph.D., L.P.C. Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Approved Supervisor
Marcie Stresemann is an experienced professional counselor with over 15 years of direct service in counseling and is licensed as a Professional Counselor through the State of Minnesota. She is also a Board Approved Supervisor for Professional Counselors. She has over ten years of training in the field of psychology. She offers competencies in a wide variety of areas of therapeutic work, including, but not limited to, individuals, couples, family and group counseling. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. She offers a caring, supportive and results-oriented approach to working with depression, anxiety and related disorders, relationship and marital issues, anger management, communication and conflict resolution, intimacy issues, eating disorders, and physical, sexual and emotional abuse issues, including PTSD. She also provides depth counseling and family of origin work for those who desire a psychodynamic approach, and works to foster personal growth through a humanistic perspective. Generally, she provides an eclectic approach based upon the individual needs of clients and the issues a client might like to work on. She views the therapeutic relationship as an ideal place to work on life and relationship issues and works to provide her clients a safe and respectful environment in which to do this work. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology and counseling services and is currently in the final stages of completing a doctoral degree in clinical and health psychology as part of her own personal growth. She is also a board approved supervisor by the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy for Licensed Professional Counselors. She greatly enjoys her work with clients and communicates this warmth and enthusiasm in her sessions. Larry Suess, M.A., L.P., L.M.F.T. Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Family and Marriage Therapist, Board Approved Supervisor
Larry completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota, in Psychology (1969) and Music Therapy (1977). He recieved his Master's degree (1981) from St. Mary's University in Counseling and Psychological Services. He is currently licensed in the state of Minnesota as a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He is skilled in working with individuals, families and couples. Larry is trained in several different therapeutic approaches and works directly with his clients to determine which is the most appropriate for them. He is also experienced in helping clients with grief work, anger management, building communication skills and depending of intimacy. He has experience with personal coaching and high level wellness and the use of holistic approaches to help clients enhance their lives, relationships and careers. Larry is also competent to supervise other psychotherapists and works in that capacity at Affiliated Counseling Center.

Mary Robertson M.A., L.P. Licensed Psychologist
Mary received a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from St. Mary's University in 1991. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Occupational Therapy at The College of St. Catherine in 1982. Mary became a Licensed Psychologist in 1993. Mary has over 15 years experience working with individuals, groups, couples, and families. She helps clients address life issues that include abuse and trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, communication and conflict resolution in relationships, parenting, addiction and recovery, and self care. Mary is skilled at creating a sense of safety and connection in therapy that allows clients to deal effectively with their issues.

Lori A. Brule Wiggenhorn, M.A., L.P. Licensed Psychologist
Lori received a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from St. Mary's University of Minnesota in 1995. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota in Psychology and Child Psychology in 1989.Lori became a licensed psychologinst in 1997. She has worked with school-aged children (6-12 years old) and families for since 1996. Lori primarily works with individuals, couples, families, and group therapy. She specializes in women's issues, recovering from abuse and traumatic experiences, anxiety, depression, parenting, behavior modification, and relationship issues.

Tricia Gibson, M.A., L.M.F.T. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Tricia has received her Master's degree after completing coursework and practicum experience in the Counseling and Psychological Services Master's program at St. Mary's University of Minnesota. She has over five years of counseling experience at Associated Counseling Clinic. She graduated from Northwestern College, Roseville, MN with a B.A. in Psychology. Coursework has included general counseling, child counseling, marriage and family counseling, children's sexual abuse, chemical dependency, and addiction issues. Experience in individual, marital, family, child and adolescent therapy includes working with past history to look at its influence in the present problem. This is done in a supportive environment allowing clients to make desired change and learn new skills that can be practiced in their lives.

Michael J. Charland, M.S., M.Div., M.C.Sp., L.P., L.I.C.S.W., L.M.F.T. Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist,Board Approved Supervisor
Michael holds graduate degrees in Counseling (Creighton University, 1972), in Pastoral Theology (Oblate College of the Southwest, 1971) and in Christian Spirituality (Creighton University, 1980). He is a Licensed Psychologist with additional licenses as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Approved Supervisor. He works with college-aged and adult clients and is particularly interested in couples/marriage therapy, grief/loss issues, stress, conflict resolution, chronic illness, work related issues, sexuality, life-direction/meaning, organizational development interventions, parenting and single parenting issues. He is experienced in and able to provide faith-based counseling if so requested. He believes strongly in counseling approaches that not only deal with the issue at hand but at the same time build strengths in the client.

Janet Rasmussen, M.A., L.P. Licensed Psychologist
Janet Rasmussen has worked as a Licensed Psychologist during the past 15 years. She works with adolescents, individuals, families and couples. Her main areas of expertise include working with anxiety and depressive disorders, PTSD, and physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Janet is also an Ordained Minister whose work focuses on emotional expression and spiritual direction. Janet's approach to therapy is mainly dependent on the individual she is working with. She is trained in a variety of approaches including brief therapy, cognitive therapy, transformational therapy, psychodynamic, neuro-linguistic programming and client centered expressive arts therapy. Janet also teaches workshops in personal transformation, anger, self-estee, sexuality, relationships, prosperity, and expressive arts for healing. Currently she is completing her Ph.D. at Saybrook Graduate School & Research Center. Her dissertation focus is on the identification and expression of emotions and the impact it has on the individual.

Cathy Malmon, M.A., L.I.C.S.W., L.M.F.T. Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Cathy received her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas and her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. Cathy has over 20 years of experience as a therapist. She employs a direct, humanistic approach with her clients. She is very seasoned in working with various populations, including children, adolescents, and those struggling with various addictions, relationship problems, and gender issues. She has extensive experience in helping clients with mood disorders, anxiety, stress, family trauma, and sexual abuse.

Nicole Grages, M.A., L.A.M.F.T. Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
Nicole completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She received her Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with the goal of achieving her Licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She will receive her degree once she has completed her internship at Affiliated Counseling Center. She has experience working with children and families in a semi-therapeutic capacity. Her coursework has included general counseling, individual and relational therapy, and family therapy. Her approach to counseling is to build a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients, which creates the opportunity for healing and change. It is her mission to provide an atmosphere of respect, genuineness, encouragement and support so that she can help people find clarity and gain insight so they are able to discover their own strengths and find new opportunities. Her approach with clients is warm and caring with some use of humor as well.

Kathleen Penkala, M.S. Psychotherapist
Kathleen received her Bachelor's degree from the College of St. Benedict's/St. John's University in 2002 in English and Philosophy. She received her Master's of Science in Mental Health Counseling with Capella University. She completed her graduate internship with Affiliated Counseling Center and is working towards her licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. Throughout the past nine years, her experience has included work with children, adolescents and young adults who are working through issues related to sexuality, sexual abuse, rape and HIV/AIDS. Her coursework at Capella has included a study of mental health counseling, individual counseling, group therapy, marriage and family counseling and a focus on human sexuality. Her counseling philosophy and approach is rooted in the belief that counseling should provide a safe and nurturing environment for all clients; one where clients feel free to explore their own issues, feelings and goals. Her hope is to bring support, encouragement and respect to each meeting; as the client searches for clarity and self-discovery.

Matt Fritscher, M.A. Psychotherapist
Matt received his Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in 2005. As a psychotherapist at Affiliated Counseling Center, he works mainly with adolescents, children and adults, with issues ranging from depression to anxiety, to personality disorders and relationship issues. Matt has experience working with clients with self-harming behaviors, chemical abuse/dependency, parenting issues as well as with children and adolescents of divorce. Matt has also volunteered at a crisis phone line for over 5 years. His gentle, client centered approach to therapy creates a comfortable therapuetic environment that promotes emotional healing and personal growth.

Fatma Reda, M.D., Ph.D, F.A.A.C.P. Consultant in Psychiatric Medicine
Dr. Reda completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Ain-Shams in Cairo, Egypt, her postgraduate study in Internal Medicine at Oxford University in Oxford, UK and the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis, MN. She completed her fellowship in Clinical Psychopharmacology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis, MN. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychiatry. Her areas of medical interest include brain biochemistry and human behavior, and creative use of pharmaceutical and nutriceutical agents in healing. Her expertise also includes cross-cultural, adaptation and minority medicine (includes women), eating disorders and the culture of affluence/decadence, and severe and persistent mental illness.

Leigh Hagglund, P.M.H.N.P.-B.C. Consultant in Psychiatric Medicine
Leigh completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota, School of Nursing, and received her Master's degree in Nursing from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. She maintains licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Minnesota Board of Nursing and is also Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is currently working on her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at St. Scholastica, where she also teaches as an Adjunct Faculty member in their graduate nursing program. She has over 12 years of experience working within the field of mental health in a variety of settings. She has a special interest in the integration of practical psychopharmacotherapy with alternative and complimentary therapies in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.
