Marcie Stresemann, President and owner of Affiliated Counseling Center, is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
Marcie has been providing direct service since 1995.
She offers competencies in a wide variety of areas of therapeutic work, including, but not limited to, individuals, couples, family and group counseling.
She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.
She offers a caring, supportive and results-oriented approach to working with depression, anxiety and related disorders, relationship and marital issues, anger management, communication and conflict resolution, intimacy issues, eating disorders, and physical, sexual and emotional abuse issues, including PTSD.
She also provides depth counseling and family of origin work for those who desire a psychodynamic approach, including dream analysis and interpretation, and works to foster personal growth through a humanistic perspective.
Generally, she provides an eclectic approach based upon the individual needs of clients and the issues a client might like to work on.
She views the therapeutic relationship as an ideal place to work on life and relationship issues and works to provide her clients a safe and respectful environment in which to do this work.
She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology and counseling services.
She is also a board approved supervisor through the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy for Licensed Professional Counselors.
She greatly enjoys her work with clients and communicates this warmth and enthusiasm in her sessions.

He has a Master's degree in Counseling and a Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Music Therapy. Larry is both a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
He is skilled in working with individuals, families and couples.
Larry is trained in several different therapeutic approaches and works directly with his clients to determine which is the most appropriate for them.
He is also experienced in helping clients with grief work, anger management, building communication skills and deepening of intimacy.
He has experience with personal coaching and high level wellness and the use of holistic approaches to help clients enhance their lives, relationships and careers.
Larry is also competent to supervise other psychotherapists and works in that capacity at Affiliated Counseling Center.

She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Occupational Therapy at The College of St. Catherine in 1982.
Mary became a Licensed Psychologist in 1993.
Mary has over 18 years experience working with individuals, groups, couples, and families.
She helps clients address life issues that include abuse and trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, communication and conflict resolution in relationships, parenting, addiction and recovery, and self care.
Mary is skilled at creating a sense of safety and connection in therapy that allows clients to deal effectively with their issues.

Lori received her Master's degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in 1995.
She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota in Psychology and Child Psychology in 1989.
Lori became a Licensed Psychologist in 1997.
Lori primarily works with individuals from 8 years old through adulthood.
She specializes in the following areas: women's issues, eating disorders, addictions, anger management, abuse and traumatic experiences, anxiety, depression, parenting, and heterosexual and lesbian relationship issues.
Lori uses an emotionally supportive and at times humorous approach to therapy.
Some techniques she uses in sessions include cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
For those who wish to work on deeper levels of healing, Lori is also trained in the Hakomi method.
This method utilizes body-focused mindfulness and breath work to incorporate a mind/body/spirit holism for traumatic and developmental core wounds.

She has over fifteen years of counseling experience.
She graduated from Northwestern College in Roseville, MN with a B.A. in Psychology.
Her coursework has included general counseling, marriage and family counseling, sexual abuse, and addiction issues.
She is experienced in providing individual, marital, family, child and adolescent therapy. She is skilled in working with personal history and interpreting its current influence.
This is done in a supportive environment allowing clients to make desired change and learn new skills.

Michael holds graduate degrees in Counseling (Creighton University, 1972), in Pastoral Theology (Oblate College of the Southwest, 1971) and in Christian Spirituality (Creighton University, 1980).
He is a Licensed Psychologist with additional licenses as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Approved Supervisor.
He works with college-aged and adult clients and is particularly interested in couples/marriage therapy, grief/loss issues, stress, chemical dependency and co-dependency recovery, conflict resolution, chronic illness, work related issues, sexuality, life-direction/meaning, organizational development interventions, parenting and single parenting issues.
He is experienced in and able to provide faith-based counseling if so requested.
He believes strongly in counseling approaches that not only deal with the issue at hand but at the same time build strengths in the client.

Paul is a Licensed Psychologist.
He received his Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and his Doctorate in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL.
His undergraduate work was in Psychology at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.
He completed his two-year post-doctoral fellowship at The Center for Sexual Health.
While there, Paul worked with men and women with sexual dysfunctions, compulsive sexual behavior, transgenderism, and sexual offenses.
He has also worked with children and adolescents with gender issues and sexually offending behavior.
Paul has experience working with people with chronic psychological disorders, such as Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, personality disorders, and mood disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings.
His work has involved examining patterns in thought and emotion that contribute to psychological difficulties and finding alternatives to ineffective behaviors.
He appreciates diversity and multiculturalism in clients and psychological work.
He also values collaboration and authenticity in relationships with clients.

Zach has worked with a wide variety of clients in settings such as the Indian Health Board, the University of Minnesota Duluth student counseling center, and the Program in Human Sexuality at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
He has experience working with lesbian, gay, straight, bisexual, and transgender clients both individually and with their partners.
His doctoral research focused on how people address conflicts between sexual orientation and religious identity.

Her Bachelor's degree is in Special Education.
She has worked with individuals and families in a variety of mental health settings for over 15 years.
Theresa has experience working with people of all ages, from children to older adults.
She has also worked with persons experiencing a wide range of issues-from those going through difficult life transitions, including grief and loss or end of life issues to chronic illness or disability, anxiety, depression, or unresolved relationship issues.
Theresa has a special interest in infertility and adoption and understands well the role of family caregivers.
Her approach is supportive, strengths-oriented and respectful.

As a psychotherapist at Affiliated Counseling Center, he works mainly with adolescents, children and adults, with issues ranging from depression to anxiety, to personality disorders and relationship issues.
Matt has experience working with clients with self-harming behaviors, chemical abuse/dependency, parenting issues as well as with children of divorce.
Matt has also volunteered at a crisis phone line for over 5 years.
His gentle, client centered approach to therapy creates a comfortable therapuetic environment that promotes emotional healing and personal growth.

Jennifer received her Bachelor's degree in English and Secondary Education from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.
She is completing her Master's degree in Marital, Couple and Family Counseling at Capella University.
She completed her graduate internship at Affiliated Counseling Center.
Jennifer has maintained her teaching license and has spent nearly ten years working with adolescents.
She is passionate about working with at-risk youth and their families. Jennifer also works with individuals and couples striving for personal insight and a meaningful experience.
Jennifer also has experience working with sexual assault victims and has volunteered at a crisis hotline for the last several years.
Couples' counseling, women's issues, and diversity are areas of particular interest for Jennifer.
Jennifer believes the therapeutic relationship is fostered by openness, caring and honesty.
She is trained in a variety of theoretical approaches and is adept at working with clients to meet their needs while fostering personal growth and development.

Mary has worked in the mental health field for over 20 years.
She received her PhD in clinical psychology from Loyola University Chicago in 1997 and has been a Licensed Psychologist since 1998.
She joined Affiliated Counseling Center in December, 2010, after training and working in a wide variety of settings, including centers for women, children and families, college counseling centers, hospital-based programs for psychiatric treatment and brain injury rehabilitation, and private practice.
Mary provides individual, couples, and family therapy to adults (age 18-65) and children (age 5-12).
She also provides intellectual and social/emotional testing and assessment to individuals (age 4-65).
She uses therapy approaches that are tailored to the needs and goals of her clients; approaches may include interpersonal, psychodynamic, communication, humanistic, family systems, cognitive-behavioral, and play therapies.
Mary has a number of special interests for working with children, including assessment, coaching, and therapy for gifted and talented children, Asperger's Syndrome screening/consultation, school adjustment and educational planning, and consultation around executive functioning, sensory processing, and temperament issues.
Her special interests for adults include screening and treatment of post-partum depression and other perinatal mood disorders, therapy for relationship and marital issues, and consultation and coaching for attachment, parenting and work/family balance.

She completed her fellowship in Clinical Psychopharmacology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis, MN.
She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychiatry.
Her areas of medical interest include brain biochemistry and human behavior, and creative use of pharmaceutical and nutriceutical agents in healing.
Her expertise also includes cross-cultural, adaptation and minority medicine (includes women), eating disorders, and severe and persistent mental illness.
